Any Date.com review can give you the basics you need to embark on the adventure of your life. Information on how to join and how to meet others can be found anywhere. But how does it really work? Do people really begin relationships online? Come along with us as we discover the exciting online world of Date.com.
Mark and the Magic Tool Bar
Mark describes himself as a busy professional who does not have time to meet anyone the traditional way. He is also shy and does not enjoy the bar scene. Mark's friend John encouraged him to try online dating and led him to Date.com.
In his Date.com review Mark indicated the sign-up process very easy. "I did
not want to pay for anything until I gave it a try. Date.com has a free option
for new members. I filled out a profile and uploaded a current photo. It was all
very easy, just a few mouse clicks. The hardest part was making sure my profile
was interesting."
Many users find the sign-up process at Date.com very easy. It is streamlined so
you only give the information necessary to set up your profile. You can go back
in and tweak it later.
Mark also loved the Date.com toolbar he could download to his browser. It is a
quick and efficient way to access the site. The toolbar downloads in under a
minute and does not slow down your browser.
A Life Changing Profile
Laurie says she chose Date.com to begin her online adventures because it did
not require users to take a personality test. "I personally don't believe a
personality test can really tell you about a person," stated Laurie in her
Date.com review.
Instead of depending on a computerized test Laurie and every other Date.com user
builds their own profile. Profiles can be a short introduction or can include
information on your interests, hobbies, and other personal items. Laurie only
spent a few minutes creating her profile but, "When I think about it now the
profile was when my whole my life changed."
Date.com does not limit the number of characters you can use when writing your
profile. The interface for creating a profile is similar to typing in a word
processing program and does not require advanced computer knowledge. Date.com
has tried to make this step very easy so users can concentrate on making their
profile interesting.
Flirt
After completing her membership Ginny began to explore or flirt as it is
called in the world of online dating. Date.com has numerous filters for users to
employ when searching for potential dates. You can search by location, hobbies,
passions, and other criteria. "I love to ride horses and so I was definitely
looking for an animal lover. By using the animal filter I was able to weed out a
lot of men who did not fit my profile," says Laurie in her Date.com review.
A recent Date.com review informs the reader that the typical user on the site is
educated, professional, and really serious about finding a relationship. While
they have members from all age groups, 90 percent are between the ages of 20-49
while only 10 percent are over 50 years old.
The site makes it easy to find someone in your area. One of the most popular
filters searches for people near you. Laurie used this filter and found several
animal lovers right in her town.
The Real Info on Date.com
Any Date.com review must include the positives and negatives of the site.
Users praise the site for its unique toolbar, its location search filter, and
Date Mobile. Date Mobile is the service's mobile phone feature. You can access
the site and communicate using messaging right from your cell phone. Date.com
also has its own online magazine that gives members great information and tips
on internet dating.
The only real drawback on the site appears to be the fact that while you can
have a free membership you must have a paid membership to chat with others. This
limits the number of people you can interact with. A paying member can message a
non-paying member but will not get an answer until the other person buys a gold
membership for around $10 a month.
So what has the response been to Date.com? The site went live on Valentine's Day
in 1997. Since then it has acquired over 5 million users from around the world.
They average about a quarter million new users every month. Fifty (50) match-ups
were married last year alone.
And what about Mark, Ginny, and Laurie? According to a Date.com review they are
all happily involved with people they met through the site. Ginny will be
getting married in December. Mark and Laurie found each other through Date.com
and are enjoying telling everyone their exciting story.
And that is the glory of online dating. You can turn a special one (you!) into a
dynamic duo (you plus your online match).
