Muslim Online Dating Guide
Faith or religious denomination is a very important factor in developing long lasting romantic relationships. This remains true in the online dating space as well. Muslim online dating, in contrast to niche dating sites focused on other religious beliefs, has relatively little exposure. When you do find a Muslim online dating service, members are few and features are found wanting. What is a devout Muslim to do if he wants to find love online? There is a way...
The most common way to find a companion in Muslim culture involves the traditional channels that a lot of Muslim-Americans and Arab-Americans engage in. These traditional channels usually involve being introduced by people through your parents, through family, and through friends. Needless to say, these methods, although common, don't have a 100% success rate and frustration can set in if you have a hard time.

Niche?
The main reason why people join niche sites focused on a specific religious denomination is because it is something very important to them in the building of a lasting relationship. Actually the Qur'an faithful who obey Islamic law know that although love and compatibility are important, it is faith that keeps a couple together for the long term. The problem is that when you type in "Muslim online dating" into Google, unlike with other religious denominations, the search results are slim pickings.
Online dating services are built based upon user demand. It is obvious that in the Muslim online dating space there is ample demand. But how is it being served? This is one of those cases where going the "niche" dating site route will be a little more difficult.
For a niche site to be successful there needs to be enough membership to make it a "visited location" a popular place where people go online. Although we happened to find some sites that cater to Muslims, the overall look and feel of the sites, and the services and features that they offer are no match for the mainstream online dating sites. Even if you compare them with similar niche sites that cater to other interests, the results are not promising. So what is the solution?
Go Mainstream
One way of taking advantage of the overwhelming number of members that participate in the mainstream online dating sites is to not join only one, but several services. Then, in each of them, make very clear what your religious affiliation is. You can mention it in your profile and in your signatures. Sometimes it will even be apparent by uploading the right picture.

Being open with your religious beliefs in your profile on these popular sites (Match.com and eHarmony for example) is going to limit the number of matches you get. Actually, it will drastically reduce the pool of members that are a possible match, but isn't that what you want?
One problem you still might run into on these sites, even though they have tons of members is that because of the reduced number of members that match your religious orientation, you might have to join several services. I suggest going with a large one, a good example is Match.com. If you don't find what you want there, then join another, but use the same criteria for filtering your matches.
It is a general rule that the best way to find a lasting relationship whether online or off is by being honest and sincere. Take advantage of the large member base of the mainstream online dating communities out there and make the most of your Muslim online dating experience.
